Jon is recognised as an industry leader and expert in competence and regulations within the built environment sector, with over 20 years’ experience of working with Government regulations and on related competency and compliance schemes. 

Jon is Chair of the Statutory Industry Competence Committee (ICC) for the Building Safety Regulator, and spent the 2 years prior to this appointment as Chair of the interim committee (IICC) that advised the BSR during its formation. Jon was a member of the Building Regulations Advisory Committee for 5 years, he was Chair of BEIS sponsored Trade Association Forum for 4 years and is the current Chair of the National Home Improvement Council. Jon is the longest-serving Chair of the Competent Persons Forum, having led the forum for over eight years. Jon actively collaborates with various committees, offering expert advice to government, helping them shape the construction industry's regulatory landscape. Jon’s involvement spans associations, certification bodies, and committees in both building fabric and building services within the built environment. 

Jon is the current Chair of Certass and Certass Trade Association, dedicating his attention to helping the glazing industry evolve during times of social and economic uncertainty and significant regulatory pressure. Jon is a strong advocate for the glazing industry within government circles. With a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the built environment sector, Jon continues to be a respected influencer, shaping regulations, advocating for competence and driving safety in the built environment. As the Chair of multiple influential committees and organisations, Jon’s contribution continues to make a lasting impact throughout construction and home improvement.
